Role Summary

Eastman is seeking a Global Corporate Brand Director to strengthen and lead its global branding efforts, including implementing a corporate Brand Refresh, amplifying the brand globally, establishing brand governance and brand management processes, measuring brand value, and building a brand culture and driving greater cohesion of the Eastman brand across all businesses.

In this newly established role, the Global Corporate Brand Director will report to a senior member of the executive team and work closely with senior leadership and business/marketing leaders. The Brand Director will lead the company’s Brand Expertise Center including managing several direct reports.

Primary Responsibilities

  • BRAND STRATEGY: Drive the brand refresh implementation and other key elements of brand strategy. Serve as work process owner for brand-related processes and owner of Brand Central, the digital brand asset management hub. Set brand integration strategies for acquisitions.
  • BRAND STANDARDS and BRAND ARCHITECTURE: Manage and own the company’s brand standards, as well as the process for requesting exceptions. Develop standards for ingredient branding, eco-branding and co-branding programs with downstream customers.
  • BRAND DEVELOPMENT AND NAMING: Working with business marketing leaders, lead/facilitate the process for naming new products, technologies and solutions. Collaborate with marketing leaders to create product brand identities, including tradenames, visual identities.
  • BRAND GOVERNANCE: Support and help facilitate the Brand Council led by the Chief Commercial Officer. Lead the Brand Expertise Center and the creation of a brand help desk. Organize and lead the Branding Champions Network, leveraging feedback and success sharing across the network.
  • BRAND TRACKING: Develop and manage measurement systems to assess brand value, including external brand tracking studies. Analyze and report brand measurement to senior leadership regularly.
  • BRAND TRAINING: Develop and deliver training on the brand, including brand standards, new brand development, and more. Serve as a focal point for brand expertise within the company and facilitate education of business employees on branding principles.
  • AGENCY MANAGEMENT: Oversee and manage external brand agency.
  • EMPLOYER BRANDING: Design and lead implementation of a brand ambassador program for employees. Partner with HR to develop employer branding for use in talent acquisition and retention.
  • PEOPLE LEADERSHIP: Direct/supervise internal staff and agency staff who implement branding activities.

Competencies And Skills

  • Brand Management: deep understanding of branding and marketing, preferably at a well-known global brand company with complex value chains and in a global context
  • Consulting: ability to serve as an internal branding consultant to senior leaders, find brand insights, develop solutions and strategies, and gain leadership support
  • Training, Facilitation, and Public Speaking: confident presentation skills and the ability to deliver training workshops to business and marketing leaders
  • Outstanding Interpersonal Skills: ability to counsel senior executives with confidence, to create win-win outcomes in conflict scenarios; highly creative and adept at providing direction to creative talent
  • Supplier Management: ability to work with large advertising/branding/digital agencies and manage creative campaigns with budget responsibilities exceeding $10 MM
  • Digital Marketing: subject matter expertise, including knowledge of SEO/SEM, social media brand management, digital campaign management and digital brand measurement tools

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Management, Communications or equivalent.
  • Master’s degree in any of the above disciplines preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in branding/marketing in a large brand company.
  • Experience working globally/with multiple geographic regions and cultures.
  • Proven people leader with supervision experience.

Location and Working Conditions

This is a full-time position located in the US, working primarily with key stakeholders at Eastman’s company headquarters in Kingsport, TN. Consideration for remote work is a possibility. The role will require travel periodically to Eastman sites, supplier facilities, and other locations, both in the US and internationally. Must be legally authorized to work in the US.
